General recommendations before surgery at Brussels Surgical & Esthetic Center

Every surgical procedure at our center is carried out in the presence of an anesthesiologist, ensuring optimal safety, quality, and comfort. It is essential to complete your anesthesia questionnaire clearly, honestly, and accurately.

With the exception of hair restoration procedures (which are longer and require a good breakfast on the day of surgery), All other interventions require fasting. Below are our general guidelines for surgeries performed under general anesthesia or sedation.

1. Preoperative Fasting Instructions

• If you are scheduled to arrive Before Noon, do not eat anything after midnight. You may drink water until 6:00am.
• If you are scheduled to arrive After Noon, do not eat anything for at least 6 hours before your arrival and refrain from drinking water in the 2 hours prior to your appointment.

2. Usual medications

• Blood Pressure and Stomach Protection Medications May be taken with a small sip of water.
• Antidiabetic medications Should be avoided on the day of the procedure.
• Anticoagulants (e.g., Sintrom) must be stopped 48 hours before surgery.
• Cardioaspirin, Aspirin, or Asaflow Are generally permitted unless otherwise advised by the anesthesiologist.
• Plavix Must be discontinued at least one week before the procedure, unless specifically instructed otherwise.

For any questions, always follow the instructions provided by your anesthesiologist.

3. Escort required‍

Following your procedure, you must be accompanied home by a responsible adult. Failure to comply with this requirement is your sole responsibility.
If no escort is available, returning by taxi may be permitted depending on the procedure, subject to prior approval by the anesthesiologist.

4. Driving‍

Driving is not permitted after surgery. In most cases, it may summarize the following day, depending on the nature of the procedure.

5. COVID-19: Health measures in our center‍

We understand your concerns regarding the current health situation. You can schedule your consultation or procedure with peace of mind, thanks to our strict protocols aimed at limiting the spread of the virus.

a) If you have symptoms (fever, cough, fatigue)‍

Cancel your consultation if you experience flu-like symptoms.
If you develop symptoms before your procedure, immediately contact the clinic or your anesthesiologist to postpone the surgery.

b) Sanitary measures during consultations

• Mask required for all patients and staff
• Hand disinfection with hydroalcoholic gel upon entry
• Surface disinfection between each patient
• Social Distancing in the Waiting Area
• The practitioner may ask you to briefly remove your mask during examination, with mandatory hand disinfection before and after

c) Before a procedure

• During an epidemic wave, a PCR test is required 3 days prior to surgery. If positive, your procedure will be postponed.
• Outside epidemic periods, PCR testing is not mandatory unless you present symptoms. Even if you test negative but feel unwell, contact the medical team to assess the situation.

d) During your stay

• Masks Must Be Worn by Both Staff and Patients
• Strict Adherence to Barrier Gestures
• After surgery, patients are isolated to reduce any risk of viral transmission
